Mike Tarpley of Big Spring, Texas spoke to the Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild at the August 2026 meeting. He shared his personal story which began with his service during in Viet Nam. Mike sustained several injuries during his tour of duty and spent months in the hospital recovering. Receiving a Quilt of Valor meant a great deal to Mike who now passes the honor forward serving veterans in Big Spring. Mike thanked the members of our guild for the many Quilts of Valor that we have provided to veterans. Guild President Jeanie Harding thanked Mike for his service in Viet Nam and to the veterans of Big Spring. Jeanie presented him with a plaque making him an honorary member of the our guild.
