March 7th - Soup, Sew and Get to Know!
Our March program will be a “Sit, Sew, and Get to Know.” Here’s what you need to do to prepare for this month’s meeting. • Bring something to work on. Handwork projects are the best so that we can make the most out of this time for fellowship.
We had a few kits left from last month’s project that will be available, too.
There will be some time set aside for committees to meet. If you are a committee chair and would like to meet with your group, please let Rexanne know before the meeting starts.
We have the room until 2:00 pm. If you’re planning to stay through lunch, you will need to bring your own beverage. We also would need some volunteers to bring either a crock pot of soup or a salad to share for lunch. Please let me know by Thursday, Feb 24th, if you can bring soup or a salad so that I can be sure we have lunch covered. (Rexanne - 903-539-5964) • We’re going to play a game called “Who Am I?”. Please be thinking of three things that about yourself that make you uniquely you. When you arrive at the meeting you will be given a piece of paper on which to write your list. We’ll read the list and try to guess your identity from the clues that you provided. Judy Green will have the first clue in this year’s Guild Mystery Challenge. If you weren’t able to attend last month’s meeting and would like to participate, please see Judy. If you have not paid your $5.00 (pattern cost) for this project, please be sure to take care of that. The response for our upcoming Barn Quilt Project was truly overwhelming! We needed five participants, and I have 17 on the list. Remember that there is a $75.00 fee for the supplies for this project. A $40.00 deposit is required by the April meeting in order to secure your seat at this workshop. If you are paying by check, please make your check payable to the Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild and write Barn Quilt in the notation space. I’ll have more details about this workshop at our meeting. I am in need of two members who are willing to serve as presenters in a round robin meeting format. If you have a special skill or a favorite technique, please consider sharing that with our group. I’ll explain more about this at the meeting. See you soon…happy quilting! Rexanne

July 11th -
Community Service Project
The Guild’s Community Service Projects are the focus of our July meeting. We will be having a workday in order to “restock” our supply of quilts to meet the needs of the projects to which we have made a commitment. We need members to bring sewing machines, cutting mats, rotary cutters, rulers, irons, and ironing boards. (Don’t feel like you have to bring everything…team up with a friend or two.) We will set up stations for pressing, cutting, and sewing. There’s always something for everyone to do on a workday! This year we will be concentrating our efforts on Children’s Quilts (and bags) and Quilts of Valor. We need to make up kits as well as completing some of these items that are already in the works. If you have any questions regarding either project, contact Doris Eakes (Children’s Quilts) or Nancy Kemp (Quilts of Valor). Be sure to bring a sack lunch and something to drink. We’ll set up stations and start working right after our regular business meeting. I wish I could join you in July, but I will be working at a Christian camp for teenagers that week. I’m looking forward to seeing you all in August! In the meantime, happy sewing! Rex
Salad and Sew and Get to Know
Our August program is a “Salad, Sew, and Get to Know.”
Bring a handwork project to work on while we play some games to help us get to know each other better.
Don’t forget our UFO Challenge!
We only have five months left in this program year to get those UFOs finished. To be counted toward our contest your UFO(s) must be completed and shown at one of our 2022 Guild Meetings.
Prizes will be awarded at the December meeting. Let me know if you have any questions about this month’s program. Stay cool (and hydrated) as you keep on sewing!
See you soon, Rexanne
September 12th -
Quilt Show Info
It’s almost Quilt Show time!!! Our September program will be “All About the Quilt Show.”
Co-Chairs Drue Schell and Donna Simoneaux will share the arrangements that have been made for this year’s show.!!We will be discussing the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and WHY regarding the 41st Annual Quilt Show and be answering any questions you might have. Please be sure to join us so that you’ll have all the latest information! Some of the items we will be discussing include:!!
Preparing Your Quilts for Entry!
Do I want my quilt judged or shown?!
What are judges looking for?!
Determining the appropriate category for my entries!
What happens on Take-In Day?!
COVID protocols at The Warehouse!
What will the October Guild Meeting look like?!
What do “Quilt Sitters” do?!
Mini Quilt Exhibit/Fund Raiser!!I
will also walk you through the “Take-In Day” process so that you can prepare your Quilt Show entries for submission!!
The Quilt Show Opening Ceremony is our October meeting.
The Show doubles as our October Show & Tell. If you are entered in this year’s UFO Challenge be sure that you have a completed UFO on display at the Show to get credit for October on your UFO Challenge List!!
Be sure to bring your calendar with you to this meeting. We still have a few areas that are in need of volunteers...specifically Quilt Sitters, Hanging Day, and Take Down Day. We need all hands on deck to get this event up and running smoothly so please consider how you may be of service to the Guild. To paraphrase one of my favorite quotes...It takes a village (lots of Guild members) to make this show happen!! I hope to see you at the September meeting. There are only 17 days between the September Meeting and Take-In Day! (Not that anyone’s counting.)!!Happy quilting
